Four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive seem to be the same thing, but there are differences in application and in the varying types of vehicles that use them. While all four wheels receive power in order to increase traction, that is where the similarity ends.

Four-wheel-drive systems are found mainly in pickup trucks and larger, off-road SUVs. They function by utilizing a split differential and a lower gear ration. Used mostly for off-road and rougher terrain driving, these vehicles do very well in such conditions.

 

 

While much of the world is soaking in the glory of the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s recently released Trackhawk model, there’s another new hawk in the nest that can’t be left out. They say that mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery, and treading on that idea, recently the Jeep brand decided to honor its own 75th anniversary and the 1941 Willys MB with a Commemorative Jeep Wrangler that was specially built to emulate the bygone military-style vehicle. While the Wrangler is certainly different from its predecessor, the similarities are uncanny, right down to the paintjob and the tire treads.
